Nicole Rice grew up on the Navesink River in New Jersey and has always had a fondness for the calm and laid-back feeling you have when you are by the water. As a young girl, she was always taking art classes, drawing, painting, and rearranging her room. After leaving the art program at Monmouth University, she was asked to work at her mother’s company, which was marine construction. Originally recruited to work in the office, she was quickly transitioned to working on the barge building docks and bulkheads.

After some life experience, Nicole decided to go back to school for Interior Design, which was the perfect way to combine her love and knowledge of art and construction. With a Bachelor of Fine Art, from Kean University, Nicole moved to California and became a model home designer. Working exclusively for national home builders, designing the show homes for sale in the master-planned developments. The houses I designed were life-sized displays that helped prospective buyers visualize the floor plan, upgrades, and amenities for their new build.

2008 Nicole moved back to NJ and opened Coastal Décor and Interior Design. A lifestyle shoppe and design studio, to work with directly with clients, Ensuring that each client’s home will be welcoming, well layered, and reflect their lifestyle and interests, to create a casual, yet refined atmosphere.

With a wide range of experience, Nicole believes design is a process that should be fun…regardless if you are building a new home, an addition, or modifying a room. I believe good design is about the client and your vision; it’s my job to make that a reality.
